Studies have proven that those people who are life-long learners create more neural pathways. This allows them to keep a hold on more memories and therefore gives them more information to draw on.

But that doesn’t mean you have to dig out old maths textbooks, the key is simply learning. This can be learning a language, the lyrics to songs, playing an instrument — anything.

Drink coffee

This may seem odd, but research has indicated that those that drink coffee retain a sharper mind as they age. Also, there is some evidence that this guards us against Alzheimer’s, although this hasn’t been proven.

Vegetables, fruits, and fish

By eating more of these you can get more omega 3 essential fatty acids in your body. These are important for the proper functioning of your brain and help to keep your mind healthy.

Two fatty acids are DHA and EPA. DHA actually makes up 30% of the adult brain and is also responsible for the proper communication between neurons — essential to keeping your brain healthy.

This is one way of how to keep a sharp mind as it will allow us to retain more information, keep focused and improve our comprehension abilities. Unfortunately, many of us are deficient in omega 3.

This is a result of our poor diets. If we could eat more fish we would get all the omega 3 we need, but their impurity means that we should only eat fish 2 or 3 times a week.

However, fish supplements are a way of getting the goodness of fish in a safe way every day. They can be purified by molecular distillation and therefore made safe.
